It will be a budget model version that will cost around $750, with triple camera gear, a 12MP wide-angle, a 12MP ultra-wide, and an 8MP telephoto. The selfie camera will have a 32MP sensor.
The standard Samsung Galaxy S20 model and the Galaxy S20 Plus launched earlier in 2020 had a 12MP wide-angle, 12MP ultra-wide, and a 64MP telephoto triple camera setup. The selfie camera was 10MP. The S20 Plus model had ToF applied but the S20 Fan Edition will not include the ToF (Time of Flight) camera.
Galaxy S20 FE is expected to sport a screen size between 6.5-inches to 6.7-inches. Korea Circuit and DAP are supplying the display modules. Galaxy S20 had a 6.2-inch screen, Galaxy S20 Plus a 6.7-inch one, and Galaxy S20 Ultra 6.9-inch. It will feature also IP68.
Samsung is hoping to ship 5 million units of Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) to offset the less-than-expected shipment of the Galaxy S20 series. It is already known that Samsung Galaxy S20 had low sales. Samsung was forced to reduce the price, coming with high discounts.
In Q4, when the S20 FE will be launched, the competition will be pretty high. There are already cheaper versions launched this year by every Samsung direct competitor. The new OnePlus Nord, the new Apple iPhone 12, and some other models from Oppo, Huawei, Xiaomi.
The CPU is expected to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and 120Hz refresh rate. It will not have 5G as the prices has to be lower.
We expect the new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE to be in direct competition with the Apple iPhone SE 2, with a cheaper version of the iPhone 12, with the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus Nord.
